Organizatorice i voditeljice radionice bile su suradnice na projektu, dr. sc. Josipa Alvi\u017e i dr. sc. Jasmina Nesti\u0107, a osim njih na radionici je izlaganje odr\u017eao i prof. dr. sc. Sveukupno na skupu je odr\u017eano 81 izlaganje. In all these contexts the term \u201cstate\u201d is taken to stand for a politica<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lly organized body of people usually occupying a definite territory and the political organization of such a body of people (Merriam Webster Dictionary).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regardless of whether they were monarchies, republics, federations or centralized states,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">state bodies played an extremely important role in the production of art and in the institutionalization of knowledge, culture and art in all parts of Europe and throughout the aforementioned period. By fabricating its visual identity, commissioning works from artists whom it considered close, and censoring those segments of art production that it judged potentially dangerous to its survival, the state has largely been shaping the art scene in all parts of Europe. Additionally, states\u2019 cultural and educational policies have influenced <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(and<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> still does) the shaping of knowledge about the arts and teaching content in the field of art (history) on all educational levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conference therefore welcomes contributions that deal with approaches to interpretation of these phenomena and various topics in the broad field of art history (painting, sculpture, applied arts, graphic design, photography, architecture, urban planning, curricula and study programmes in art history, etc.) but also other humanities disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The contributions could address the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b> &nbsp; Representation, propaganda, image-making in European states<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b> &nbsp; Art and changes of state borders<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b> &nbsp; Art commissioning policies<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b> &nbsp; Control of art production through censorship<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; State-sponsored artists<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; State-funded education of artists<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; Public sculpture and the state<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; Public space furnishing campaigns<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp;<\/b><b>Preservation of architectural heritage<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; Formal and informal education and promotion of artistic and cultural literacy<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; State policies and the acquisition of artworks for public museums and other institutions<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; Architecture and state authorities<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; Interstate artistic projects<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>&nbsp; Art and war&nbsp;<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Art in totalitarian and democratic regimes&nbsp;<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b> Artists as social critics&nbsp;<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Church and public officials as art commissioners<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Institutionalization of knowledge, culture and arts<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Cultural and educational policies, national identity and visual arts<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">State Policy and Strategies of Designing Everyday Life<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><b>Art market, illegal trade and counterfeit art<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a topic that can provide almost limitless possibilities for reviewing, expanding and deepening current understandings, other issues concerning the complex relations between art and the state can also be touched upon within the given topics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Art and State in Modern Central Europe international conference will take place at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, from 8 to 11 July 2020.
